Reloading equipment, supplies, technique, whatever. If it involves dropping powder into a brass tube, it probably goes here.

Thanks for the response Bill. I read that corn corn media is better than walnut. Is that not true?

I have used both and not really seen any difference.
My purpose is to get grit and powder off the brass. If you want it real shiny you have to put some type of polish in it anyhow.

You'd be surprised how many things are sold cheaply for a different intended usage that work just as well as the expensive specialty stuff. Thanks for the tip, I will add that to my list of great ways to avoid spending too much money!

+1 on Blast's "Evil Genius Tip" of the media from petco. It may be a bit more messy, but why burn the extra cash when you can get something that works just as good for MUCH less cost? Use the extra money to buy ammo! :cheerleader:

Thanks to the guys from Heritage for the reply. Quality store with excellent service and inventory.

I just discovered a great place for the fine corn cob media at good price. The best part is that its local on Jefferson Blvd in Warwick. I was buying the Wal-Mart reptile bedding stuff but it is too big and would get the brass. I had a few squib rounds and several broken decapping pins as a result. This is the fine stuff that cleans real well:

As an aside, I have 2 kids with nut allergies and can't use walnut media. I can't risk walnut particles floating around in the air at my house.

Go to Grainger item # 2MVR5, 40 lbs for $23.60. The 20/40 is super fine like white beach sand, it polishes like crazy and is too fine to get caught up in the primer pockets.

add a couple capfulls of NuFinish car polish and mineral spirits, and watch your eyes from the shine

40lbs! Do they sell in smaller quantities. That must be a pretty big bag.

Split it up amungst friends, this stuff is great! Polishes like crazy, and is too fine to get stuck in the primer flash hole. I found this by mistake, and glad I did.

Bill, it's actual corn cob. It's just ground a little finer than the stuff sold at gun shops. I ordered what I thought was the stuff we're accustomed to. When I got it, I had a WTF moment then tried it on some deprimed .223 and was very happy.
